In 2005 the two Stuttgart DJs and producers Frank Nova and Oliver Schleenvoigt started their latest project Monoroom, and they’ve been rocking the clubs as a techno Liveact or DJ Act ever since. The sound resonated in the scene, and Monoroom moved ahead steadily with heavy bookings. The Big Bang came in November 2006. The Brazilian mastermind Gui Boratto lent a hand and played back an explosive Monoroom remix. “Memory Inc. Part 2″ hit the dance floors like a bomb. Monoroom gained international attention and the Gui Boratto remix was on the playlists and charts of DJs like Oliver Koletzki, Kiki, Martin Eyerer, Oxia or Williams and was licensed for various mix CDs, such as “Cocorico 1″ by Oliver Koletzki. Since then, Monoroom has produced for a series of international record labels including Kling Klong, Multicolor, Superfancy, Session Deluxe, Death by Disco, Rhythmetic and others. When not producing and remixing in the studio in Benztown, in summer 2007 Monoroom was mostly on the road as a live act throughout Europe, Asia and particularly South America, and their always original sound - somewhere between minimal and Detroit techno - has played into the hearts and legs of the clubbers. They are currently concentrating on remixes for Minilogue (known from Traum Schallplatten), Dani Casarano (known from Connaisseur) and working increasingly once again on various productions of their own. Frank Nova is one of the co-founders of Freunde Tontraeger, as previously for Bond Records. He was also a label assistant for Martin Eyerer at Session Deluxe. (copyrights by Freunde Tontraager)

VADIM LANKOV (RU) @ FUCKING FAMOUS RG

Vadim Lankov, the electronic music producer from Moscow, working in various musical directions, preferring a writing of music in style of a techno. Having devoted more than five years to perfection of own skill in a writing of a techno music, it has proved as the original musician, the artist creating really original sound and ideas, realized in music. Despite of so small experience in creation of an electronic picture, its music is already known on the European stage where it was recognized actual at present with stars of a world level (Dave Martin, Robin Porter, Drumcell, Axel Bartch…). His personal site (www.vadimlankov.com) only partially acquaints visitors with his creativity.

The basic platform for dialogue and presentations - its personal page on www.myspace.com/tekknova where the information is updated almost daily. Recently known English label Immigrant Records has published Vadim’s track “Stereometria” which has entered into compilation of a label ” Touching Down in Miami ” dated to the international conference in Maimi. The track and now keeps on the first 5-th places in top digital audio downloads a label. This track have supported by: Steeve Edwards (SFE Music), Jay Meletiche, Hiro Nakamura (Sonderfall Muzik), Covert (UK), SenseGenerate FM, Detroit Institute of Techno e.t.c. … On, become successful, self-produced digitall release “Ferns and Candles Remix EP ” released on German Rumpfunk Records in February 2007 remixes was made by five musicians from the Europe (Germany, Denmark, etc.).

In July of this year as the vinyl and digital release is expected on label DROIDbehavior recordings (USA). For the Russian musician a recognition on such labels, as IMMIGRANT Rec., Musicartistry/OffAudio Rec. Not simply mark in the private affair, and a quite good reserve for the further development and perfection.

DJ 3000 остается одним из немногих не темнокожих музыкантов и ди-джеев, которые смогли стать полноправными членами техно-кланов – Underground Resistance и Submerge. Из-за почти сумасшедшей преданности музыке, DJ 3000 стал тем самым счастливчиком, который вытянул выиграшный билет.

Мир техно-музыки DJ 3000 открыл еще в конце 80-х, именно тогда такие мастера, как Jan Atkins, Derrick May и Kevin Saunderson творили историю современных электронных музыки. Ни на что не похожая музыка стала смыслом жизни юного меломана. Свое свободное от учебы время он решил посвятить техно. Постепенного у него появлялись новые пластинки, ди-джеинг поднялся на качественно более высокий уровень и выступлений стало больше. Меломана заметили в формации Submerge и предложили вступить в ряды техно-рыцарей. Сам Mike Banks (один из идейных лидеров Underground Resistance) помог парню выбрать псевдоним и направил его на личный путь, сказав: «приходи, когда сможешь показать нечто своеобразное, классическим техно меня уже не удивишь».

Ради открытия чего-то кардинально-нового, DJ 3000 погрузился в прошлое, а именно - сделал шаг назад к своим корням. Его родители по происхождению из бывшей Югославии, и именно на своей «родной земли» музыкант нашел ответ. Так родился Motech - сплав техно и этнической музыки. Здесь ритм сочетается с оригинальными взглядами музыкантов на национальные мотивы Восточной Европы. DJ 3000 сделал точный выстрел! Почти сразу лейбл получил признание электронщиков, как с самого Детройта, так со всего мира.

Всего в арсенале DJ 3000 - около 23х релизов на Electrofunk, Submerge, Underground Gallery, Mute или Nublu Recordings.

Музыкант уже давно потерял статус «мальчиков для избиения» и нашел личное оружие - ураганный миксинг из трех виниловых проигрывателей. Вся настоящая сила техно музыки в одном сете от DJ 3000.

DJ Nuno dos Santos (1976) has found a new love he can’t stop talking about. The name of his new love? Producing. Making tracks. Sometimes alone in his Utrecht-based studio, but preferably with someone else. Someone like TJ Kong from Eindhoven, with whom he made Circus Bells for german imprint Compost last year. A single so strong and deep, it caused mayhem on dance floors for months.

To think that Circus Bells started out as a prank, made up during a party in the east. “We wanted to come up with a Brazilian version of Robert Armani’s classic”, laughs Nuno dos Santos, who was born in Portugal born but raised in The Netherlands. The duo made Circus Bells in a single night. When the record dropped a few months later it was quickly picked up by Pete Tong, who made it ‘Essential New Tune’ for his radio show on BBC Radio 1.
Apart from being a dj and a producer Dos Santos makes a living as a graphic designer. With his company Kollektiv he’s responsible for the looks of countless websites, music magazines, books and flyers. Most of them catering towards the dance scene.

Being both producer and designer makes it easy to compare the Utrecht based Nuno dos Santos with Henrik Schwarz. With whom he not only shares a love for deephouse and melodic techno but also shares the combination of both talents. But Dos Santos is eager to discard that comparison. “Schwarz likes both jobs. But I have to admit I’m losing my passion for graphical design more and more. For me, producing music and dj-ing proves a much more rewarding outlet for my creativity.”

So it comes as no surprise Nuno dos Santos in the near future likes to focus on the link between music and art. With a university degree in interaction design under his belt, he already worked together with sound designer and Ableton-specialist Dennis Desantis. Currently Dos Santos is involved in the development of an interactive dancefloor laser installation, together with his close friend and dj-partner Patrice Bäumel & Jarno.

There you have it: dj. A passion that started right after Dos Santos closed his school books at the start of the nineties. His unique talent blossomed and in 2000 Dos Santos was invited for the Red Bull Music Academy in Ireland. Five years later he was voted ‘dj talent of the year’ during the 2005 edition of the prestigious Amsterdam Dance Event. Soon after, his bookings exploded.

For three years now Nuno Dos Santos is resident dj for Full Spectrum, a monthly techno club night in Utrecht with the tag ‘everything goes’. Furthermore he’s been a regular guest at all the big dance festivals in Holland, from Lowlands to Mysteryland, from Extrema Festival to Awakenings. Most important of all, Nuno and Bäumel are hosting their own monthly 360 party’s in the famous club 11 in Amsterdam. In the recent past Apparat, Modeselektor and Akufen found their way to the eleventh floor of that famous(, soon to be closed) club. “360 Says everything about the spectacular view in 11 but it also expresses our musical freedom during our club nights” Dos Santos explains. Whether it is minimal techno, old school Chicago house or an ace remix by LCD Soundystem, “we’re always looking for the boundaries of the dance spectrum.”

Same at home, where Nuno likes to listen to everything between Anthony & The Johnsons, Philip Glass or The Smiths. “I don’t want to limit myself to dance music 24 hours a day. There is so much other good music around”.
Later this year will see the birth of Dos Santos’ first album, released on Compost Records and produced together with the Eindhoven-based producer TJ Kong. Anyone who heard the preceding single ‘Merging’, knows they’re in for something special. Merging was made with the help of house legend Robert Owens, who lended his soulful voice to the warm and pulsating deephouse of the Dutch duo. “It felt so damn good when we hit the right spot with Merging”, remembers Dos Santos. “We were fiddling around in the studio and suddenly it all fell into place. Moments like that are truly special. Almost spiritual, actually.”
